disclaimer: I have had a lot of writing block lately and stopped the song early so I wouldn't get blocked right up to the end date and end up not submitting it. I feel incredibly dirty for having done this.

Originally, this song was going to have lyrics, screams into vocoder, then distorted. I cannot write lyrics and I am not a vocalist. The vocals fit within a dystopian universe I've been building out lately and were, in the very beginning, supposed to be in the language of the country of focus for me in that universe. Of course, that language isn't done yet so boo hoo no gutteral hissing.

The song is supposed to portray the country 10 years after the revolution that freed them from The Great Purity, a 227-year dictatorship focused around racial purity run by a council of 12 people.

In the rebellion, a member of the council managed to disassemble the military and rally the people to rebel at around the same time, and she proceeded to lead the rebellion as a face and general.

After the success of the rebellion, she installed herself as queen and outlawed democracy, which people were okay with since she was insanely benevolent and seemed to know what was right for the people.

Fast forward ten years, citizens are not allowed to leave the country, the military is powerful and set almost exclusively on the citizens, and the skies are patrolled by death bots. Three more rebellions have sprung up in these 10 years and have all been silenced with extreme force. People are publicly executed for breaking local preservation laws, such as by littering or peeing on trees.

But, a new rebellion has started that (spoilers) will not be stopped and will last many years. In the future it is called the "steel skies war" in their language as it was common to see swarms of flying death-bots and military planes coming to attack rebels.

Future plans with this universe is pretty much commissioning people to make art within it and then making whatever details they add to be canon. It will be a long time until I can afford this, though.

Also, I am very aware that in terms of tone and chord representation it sounds very much like I've been listening to too much Voivod lately. There's a very good reason for that. It is that I have been listening to too much Voivod lately.

EDIT: I forgot to say, the I in the title means I will be continuing it later on with a II!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
