to your surprised delight, the vinyl record - A Very Beeper Christmas by Charlie "The Pope's Nose" Roberts - contained pristine recordings from the 1982 ZX Spectrum, a device you were previously unaware could even produce sound. yet here it was, an uplifting album for family holiday time. marketed as "easy listening", you can't help but wonder about how people must've felt putting this on their fancy "hi-fi" stereo systems.

advent diary day 5:
yet another format i had no experience with! thankfully having done channel F a few times i was able to get on my feet quickly. i decided to go the .xm converter route[see link at botb track page] since that's not only the same as chanF but also by the same person[see link at botb track page] - and it made for a much more pleasant working environment both aurally and workflow-wise...

i went with the first engine i tried, "fluidcore" which has some crude wavetableing at a few different volumes. and honestly, it was really fun?? i would try a different one next time for kicks, but i enjoyed my 4x polyphony with some volume and sound control in the engine i chose. neat format, would do again.
